Spain Destination Wedding

To say I’m obsessed with Sonia and Felipe’s destination engagement photos would be an understatement! First of all, being in Spain was a literal dream, and to have met Sonia and Felipe while I was there shooting a wedding and have them ask me to photograph their engagement photos on a whim was meant to be!

Destination Engagement Location

Sonia and Felipe wanted their destination engagement to be casual and to simply celebrate them. Sonia grew up in, Badajoz, Spain, and wanted to capture and revel in those memories for her engagement shoot. They showed me around their favorite places including Castelar Park. I was so excited to adventure around with them as I’d never been to any of these places before!

Castelar Park was absolutely breathtaking! Its located south of the Guadiana River and features long palm trees that stand high above the park and city as well as the roads across and there was a pond with ducks, pigeons, and peacocks who wandered all over. It was extremely peaceful and calm, the perfect spot for an intimate engagement photoshoot. Sonia and Felipe decided on a sunset engagement session which worked out perfectly as it wasn’t too hot or too cold. Here in Badajoz, Spain, the tropical air is almost always warm but the clouds that we had gave us some coverage which helped!

Engagement Session Portaits

After shooting in the park we walked across the street and took some photos around the city. This part of Bajadoz reminded me a lot of Boston, Massachusetts because of the classic brick streets, sidewalks, and street lights. I couldn’t help but feel a little bit at home while shooting Sonia and Felipe’s destination engagement photos.

At the beginning of the session, Sonia was a little nervous but Felipe helped by asking for certain poses to lighten the mood like jumping in the air and him watching her walk by, he was having so much fun with it which in turn loosened Sonia up. After Sonia’s nerves surpassed there was non-stop laughter and smiles. You could really feel the love they had for one another and the excitement they had about spending the rest of their lives together.

Capturing Sonia and Felipe’s engagement photo shoot was AMAZING! I couldn’t have asked for a better on-the-whim engagement session while I was visiting Bajadoz, Spain! They were both so sweet and kind and ready to start their lives together and I’m so happy I could capture this significant moment for them.
