Dreaming of a romantic elopement in the heart of Boston? I couldn’t be more excited to help you plan your special day! I’m Genevieve, a Boston photographer, and I’m here to guide you through the process of turning your elopement dreams into a reality. Boston is not just a city; it’s a treasure trove of charming spots that are perfect for your intimate elopement. Let’s dive into this guide to planning your Boston elopement so you can have a truly unforgettable elopement day.
First things first, let’s pick the perfect date for your big day. As you probably know, Boston’s weather can be unpredictable, so it’s essential to choose a season that suits your vibe. Spring and fall offer mild temperatures and stunning foliage, making them popular choices. Winter can be downright magical with a touch of snow, while summer promises warm days but also attracts more crowds. Consider your preferences and let the seasons inspire you!
Once you’ve chosen an elopement date, it’s time to choose your elopement location. Boston offers a plethora of charming spots for your elopement, and I’ve had the pleasure of capturing beautiful moments in many of them. Here are some top choices for couples!
Boston City Hall is a great elopement location thanks to its striking architecture, iconic status in the city, and the variety of spaces it offers for ceremonies. It provides an urban contrast to traditional natural settings and offers an intimate and private atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for couples looking for a unique and meaningful elopement experience in downtown Boston.
Check out Sarah and George’s Boston City Hall elopement! After their Boston City Hall ceremony, we headed to Acorn Street for photos. If you’re after that quintessential Boston feel, Acorn Street in Beacon Hill has got you covered. Cobblestones and historic brownstones set the scene for your love story, and it makes for such charming elopement photos.
I love the Boston Public Library’s blend of elegance and history! Its grand architecture, ornate details, and serene courtyard provide a timeless backdrop for elopement ceremonies and photos. The Library’s rich literary heritage and tranquil ambiance make it such a romantic choice for couples looking to create a sophisticated and intimate elopement experience in the heart of Boston. Speaking of, don’t miss Silas and Lauren’s gorgeous Boston Public Library elopement!
The Boston Public Garden (or BPG as I call it) is like stepping into a fairy tale with beautiful Boston willow trees, a serene pond, and those iconic swan boats. It’s perfect for a dreamy, nature-filled elopement, and it’s also right near Newbury Street and The Common, other Boston spots you may want to visit for more photos afterward. It’s one of my favorite places for elopements!
Also offering a stunning view of the Boston skyline is the Boston Seaport area. It’s especially magical at sunset! The seaport is best at sunset instead of sunrise because of where the light comes in. After the ceremony, you can walk down to the docks to get a shot close to the water! It’s the perfect elopement location for those looking to have the Boston skyline backdrop.

As you plan your elopement, I’ve put together my top three tips for making sure everything runs smoothly!
This is your day, and it should reflect who you are as a couple! Customize your vows, choose readings that resonate with you, and add personal touches that make it uniquely yours. I love capturing those authentic moments, and they’ll be what you remember thirty years down the line!
While it’s easy to get caught up in everything else, don’t forget about the legal aspects of getting married! You’ll need to obtain a marriage license from the Boston City Clerk’s Office. I’ve captured quite a few elopements, so I’m here to help ensure everything runs smoothly so you can focus on celebrating your love.
Elopements are all about love and spontaneity! Don’t let any minor hiccups that occur steal your joy. As your photographer, I’ll be there to capture the joy and love in every moment. Embrace the day, savor the love, and let Boston’s charm work its magic through my lens.
Wondering what your Boston elopement could look like? Maya and Noah had a dreamy fall elopement in Boston!
They were so fun and always so joyful the entire day! They wanted their photos to feel playful and authentic to their goofy side—while also having a cool vibe. I was so excited to capture that for them!
We started with family photos in the South End and continued to do bridal portraits there before heading towards the Christian Science Center area. I love the Boston skyline and the architecture in that area!
The time I shared with Maya and Noah flew by, and we chatted about everything together. Leaving their elopement day, it felt like I’d known them for years! They truly were so in love and so excited about their elopement day. And, they didn’t let the excitement end after our time together; they even hit up a Hozier concert afterward! My kind of couple!
