Engagement sessions can be super exciting and fun but also nerve-wracking and a little repetitive if you aren’t sure what to do. For this reason, I’ve written this blog to provide you with engagement photo poses that will work for all couples to help you feel comfortable and get natural-looking photos for your upcoming engagement photoshoot.
Just take a look and Jennifer and Stone’s Gouveia Vineyards engagement photoshoot in Connecticut! Jennifer and Stone were incredible and down to do every single pose I suggested, they were so free-spirited and had the most fun personalities. When it comes to engagement photo poses all you need to do is be yourself and have fun!
Foundation poses are simple poses where you stand in a certain position and face a specific direction. Engagement photo poses like this are very natural and easy, to begin with especially when you are nervous. You can build off this pose as well, you can hold one another while gazing into each other’s eyes or just hold hands while standing right by each other. Foundation poses are an easy way to get multiple variations of poses without having to move around too much.
Hugging it out always gets the jitters and nerves out of the way! It’s perfect for the beginning of the engagement shoot and shows the romance and love between the couple.
This may be one of my favorite engagement photo poses and the most comfortable pose for couples as it’s the most natural! You can go about this pose in many different ways, whether that’s just staring right into each other eyes or candidly laughing and smiling at one another!
The “T” pose is the same as a prom pose and gives a more romantic feel to the photo. This is another natural pose for couples as many couples hug each other from behind! What I love about this pose is that you can move your hands around whether it’s on your partner’s stomach or around their shoulders while you kiss their forehead. It’s even better when you have fun with it and rock back and forth to give some movement!
Okay, this may be my top favorite pose! This is one of the most fun poses as the couple is always laughing and having fun with each other! Who doesn’t love a classic piggy back ride?!
Last but not least, action poses! These are by far the most natural poses! These poses also help loosen any nerves and help couples get more comfortable with being in front of the camera. These poses can include the couple walking, holding hands swinging around, or dancing.
If there’s one thing to take away from this, it’s to just be yourself!! Remember the reason why you are there, which is capturing the love you have for one another and the exciting journey you are on together! Have fun with your significant other and do what feels most natural to you! But if you’re camera shy and have no idea what to do make sure to turn to your photographer as they will help! I’ll make sure to be there every step of the way providing you with advice on how to pose and what to do next and of course I will be your biggest hype woman! My goal is to make you feel beautiful and confident during your session! I have a particular style of posing that creates candid laughs and movement that could never be captured on a phone. Candid shots are what I’m known for and love capturing!
